Self-Clinching Slide Top Standoffs - Series CFSKC

Captive Fastener Brand of Slide Top Self clinching Standoffs (CFSKC Series) provide a solution where design engineers need to space panels and PC Boards in an enclosure that can be quickly attached and removed with a simple sliding motion. The Slide Top standoffs are available in stainless steel and are passivated to ASTM A967. The self clinching slide top standoffs provide a low cost of installation and provide a permanently attached reusable means of attaching and removing panels and or PC boards. The Slide Top Standoffs greatly reduce the assembly time and provide substantial cost savings in labor costs. The slide top standoffs can be installed into panels as thin as .040” thick. For the self clinching slide top standoffs to work they must be installed properly. The fasteners must be sufficiently harder than the panels into which they will be installed. The stainless steel slide top standoffs can be installed into steel or aluminum panels with a maximum hardness of HRB 70.

Installation of Slide Top Self-Clinching Standoffs

The self clinching Slide Top standoffs are to be installed into ductile material which allows for the metal into which the fastener is installed to flow into the clinch profile of the standoff.

Once installed the slide top standoffs become an integral part of the design. Each self clinching slide top standoff is installed into the proper size hole in the mating panel and is then pressed into place using a squeezing force. The recommended hole sizes and suggested installation force is available in our catalog at www.captive-fastener.com. The slide top standoff eliminates the possibility of loose hardware in the assembly which is a very important feature for design engineers particularly in electronic enclosures and cabinetry. When properly installed the self clinching slide top standoffs provide excellent push out values that meet or exceed the industry standards. The mounting holes dimensions for the mating parts that will be attached to the standoff are readily available on our web site in the Installation & Performance Data section of our catalog. We also have an installation video here. The standoffs design allows the fastener to retain its dimensional integrity during the clinch process. The clinch fasteners, unlike a swage fastener or rivet, do not deform around the panel but the material in the panel flows around the clinch profile of the fastener. The Slide Top Standoffs are available in both inch and metric thread.
